Millwall Goods represents a fictitious goods yard situated in the Poplar area of London's East End, between 1900 and 1910. It is typical of the myriad of yards in the docklands area, often reached by smoky tunnels and over viaducts, threading their way through the 'mean streets' of equally smoky dwellings, offices, warehouses and factories of the East End. The yard is owned and operated by the London & North Western Railway (LNWR) in conjunction with their close ally, the North London Railway (NLR). Freight transfer to and from adjacent yards belonging to other companies are a frequent occurrence. Whilst LNWR and NLR locomotives and vehicles predominate, visiting trains from the Midland Railway and Great Eastern Railway make appearances.
