Weymouth's Annual Model Railway Exhibition held: 25-26th Oct 2008

Thanks to everyone who visited the exhibition. We sincerely hope that you enjoyed your time with us, and that all the hard work by everybody concerned (members & their wives, layout owners, operators and traders) was not in vain. The Association fielded all its layouts (despite Yeovil Pen Mill being non-operational) together with three members layouts (Top-line Tinplate, South Dorset Light Railway & Springfield) our biggest and most ambitious task to date. Despite overall attendance being a little down on 2007, we made a good surplus - more of this later.

To quote a somewhat bemused John, our new Exhibition Manager, on the Monday after:-
                         I'm pleased with the way it went... it looked like a proper exhibition to me!

and to quote just one of the accolades received from visitors:-

                        Good exhibition, good selection of layouts and good trade support... thought it was better than last year.

Consequently, John is now considering changes, refinements and improvements to the format for next year's special exhibition - our 21st, and he's got a much bigger budget for it, thanks to his success with this year's. So, if you fancy an expenses paid weekend in Weymouth on 24-25th October 2009 then email us - Oh! Can you bring your layout, too?

As for pictures of this year's exhibition, being a little over-committed, only Roger (our Treasurer) got to take photos this year, so we're down to what took his eye (and passed the censor). Having said that, Publicity Officer Nigel took some video of the Association's O gauge Connaught Road layout - see later. In the meantime, here's Roger's photos...
