Bincombe
Junction N gauge - BR

Bincombe
Junction is a freelance double track layout loosely set in the
British Railways Southern region, being constructed by the N
Gauge Group of Weymouth
MRA. There is a branch line leading
to a small country terminus not modelled, and an industrial
branch leading to sidings. As the line is set somewhere between
London and the coast there is the opportunity to run main-line
express passenger trains and heavy goods traffic.
The track-work
is virtually complete and a start has been made on the scenery,
much work remains.

Bridehaven
OO gauge BR

Bridehaven
is a modern image 4mm scale layout being constructed by the Modern
Image Group of Weymouth
MRA. It portrays a terminus station
in the diesel era of British Railways. The period covered is the
1950s to date. We
have envisaged that the real village of West Bay (in truth more
of a suburb of Bridport) has developed into a larger town and
has been renamed Bridehaven, and that the line has remained open
to Bridehaven. The
layout is now nearing completion; station buildings and colour
light signals (scratch built using LEDS) have just been added.

Yeovil
Pen Mill OO gauge - GWR period

The station approach with
a GW diesel railcar aka
"Flying Banana" in Pen Mill's bay platform
This Weymouth
MRA's layout is
based on Yeovil Pen Mill, Somerset, UK during the Great Western Railway
Company ownership in
the 1937-41 time period. Motive power is almost entirely steam
outline. The layout depicts the line from Weymouth which
crosses the River Yeo, passes under the Sherborne Road bridge
and into the station. From the station and goods handling
area, the line is modelled to just beyond the North signal box in
the direction of Westbury.
With all the
buildings built from scratch, the layout has been some time in
coming to fruition and there's still final touches to the
scenic-work outstanding. The loco sheds with turntable, a further extension
to the layout, are currently under construction by the OO Pen
Mill Group.

Operator's view of the Weymouth
end of the station - interesting diversion for the Cornish
Riviera; it begs the question whether
the Westbury slip portion has gone on to Penzance!

Connaught
Road O gauge - British Railways steam

This 7mm Finescale layout
is under construction by the Weymouth MRA O Gauge Group.
Whilst totally fictitious, its aim is to represent a British
Railways Southern Region main-line station in a 1950s to 1960s
urban setting. The four track station has its main building at
high level on a road over-bridge - a feature common to many
Southern stations around London and its suburbs. The layout also
includes a small goods handling facility principally for parcels
traffic and a factory that has its own sidings. There is also a
small loco depot with coaling stage. The layout is designed to
be inserted in the O gauge Test Track such that stopping and
high speed non-stopping trains can be run.

Test
Track O gauge - 7mm Finescale

This
7mm Finescale Test Track has been constructed by the Weymouth
MRA O Gauge Group. It is of a modular form: 12 curved
sections, (four of which provide the transitional curves)
together with 6 straight sections (2 with point-work). It can be
configured according to requirements; one being its use with the
Connaught Road layout where it provides train storage sidings as
well as the continuous run.

Static
Display - O Gauge

This
static display for O gauge locomotives and rolling stock is
comprised of 3 curved sections that are now, sadly, surplus to
requirements. They were built to extend the platforms of a
member's layout that is no longer exhibited. This was the O
Gauge Group's first attempt at scenic sections, consequently
a lot has been squeezed into what is a comparatively small space
for O gauge. The boards feature staggered platforms, signal box,
terrace cottages, double over-bridge (over a road and a stream)
and a tunnel mouth.
