Display of pages
Based on statistics collected over the last 12 months, it has been decided to design the pages of this site to be compatible with a display setting of 1024 (horizontally) by 768 (vertically) pixels. This has
become a default standard, these days, for 17” displays. For those using 14” monitors at lower resolutions, please accept our apologies.
Are you viewing our website
as intended? Maximise
the browser's webpage display area by closing 'History', 'Favorites'
and 'Search' panes. If you have a third-party 'Toolbar'
plugged-into your browser, ask yourself how useful it is compared to
having the full area available for browsing webpages!
If you're viewing our
webpages within another's webpage i.e within their frame Click
Here. This is how it has been designed to look:-

Our site's Homepage
displayed as intended by MSIE7

Our site's Homepage displayed as intended by MSIE6 - only
marginally different to MSIE5.50
Website access
The URL www.WeymouthMRA.org.uk is the recommended access route for our
website; note upper case is used to ensure correct spelling only as
URLs are insensitive to case. This
domain name points to where our website is hosted i.e. physically resides. Currently our host is Tiscali and requests for the above URL cause
the primary webpage at http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/34091/ to be served.
Bookmarking and external linking to pages within the website will
fail to work when the site moves to another server, whereas the site
will always be found using the domain name URL, above.
Update - 11th May. From 1st June 2007 webpage
'http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/34091/index.htm' will not longer be
available for downloading from the Tiscali server. At this time, all
external links to our website using this page address will fail. It's removal
will rationalise all future Bookmarking
to http://www.WeymouthMRA.org.uk/index.htm, a page address
independent of host server.
This site uses JavaScript code in conjunction with HTML (on most of its pages) for navigation and information presentation. The fact is that JavaScript is in common
usage for these purposes, for example, on
most corporate websites. The webGroup of Weymouth MRA assert that any JavaScript on this website’s pages is for no other purpose than navigation and information presentation, and consequently it is safe to
‘Allow Blocked Content’. Please note that this website does not use ActiveX.
Note Microsoft Internet Explorer (MSIE
7) running with its recommended (default) settings will restrict a webpage and block, i.e. prevent, JavaScript running as it doesn’t differentiate between it and the potentially much more dangerous, downloadable ‘plug-ins’ e.g. ActiveX.

Screen-shot of
our site's Homepage pointlessly 'Blocked' by MSIE7
If you are not accessing websites you wouldn’t or shouldn’t, there is absolutely no harm in allowing scripts or ActiveX controls to be run.
Indeed, by allowing them to run, you will not be (needlessly)
restricted in your ability to browse all that's available. To do
this, click on the bar towards the top of the browser window
containing: 'To help protect your security,...etc.', do not click on
'X'. You then need to click on 'Allow Blocked Content'.
Finally, you will be asked to confirm whether you want to let this
file (meaning webpage) run active content, click on 'Yes'. Similar blocking can be
encountered using MSIE 6, however unblocking is comparatively
straightforward - roll-on MSIE 8, perhaps! Regular visitors to the site may
care to declare this website a trusted site in order
to avoid continually having to go through the above process.
It has been known for third party Pop-Up
Blockers to prevent a new browser window to be opened for
genuine reasons, from within a webpage. This feature is employed in
this website, so you may safely turn it off whilst browsing.
Site navigation
All content (arranged by topic) of this website is accessible from the
homepage - the first page displayed on normal entry to the site.
A feature of this site is that the navigational links to several of
the website’s
topics, on the site’s homepage, open the selected
topic's pages in their own browser windows. This feature is used
where the particular topic includes several pages. Its purpose is to
minimise the opportunity for visitors to get lost and not be able to navigate back to the homepage to view other topics/pages.
A note is to be found at the foot of each of the topic’s root (first) page to close the window currently being viewed
(when you've finished browsing) in order to avoid an excessive number of windows
being open at the same time.
If you have a query
that's not covered here, the webGroup of Weymouth MRA (responsible
for this website) will be more than happy to help -

compose an email to them.
